BE THAT JESUS
IT is often said that ‘Christianity is not a Religion’, yet we don’t understand what it is actually. So what is Christianity? Simple, Christ JESUS is the hub of it, a life patterned according to Christ. Another question, What pattern of life is according to Christ?
This is where we miss it, but I must confess, the words of Jesus are hard to live by! Yet, that is the life He has called us to live in through His Spirit of Comfort, the Holy Spirit. We never really understand what pattern of life we should live as a Christian! Many at times we seek for miracles, signs and wonders from some people that we believe that God had anointed them to do special things, true but looking for them is not a life of a Christian. In the true sense, Christians should not seek after miracles, signs and wonders. It is not for us, these things that we seek are not for us, it is for the unbelievers. These miracles, signs and wonders should and can be created by Christians because we are (supposed) to carry the power of God within them and manifest it. Check what this part of the bible said;
‘For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the sons of God.’ Romans 8:18-19.
Christians are often referred to as sons of God. The unbelievers are referred to as ‘Creature’; these are they that are looking for miracles, signs and wonders, not sons of God. Sons of God are meant to manifest the provisions of the needs of the Creature.
Now, among the sons of God, we have they that believe that some sons of God are solely meant to provide for their (spiritual) needs. This is totally wrong. We are all sons of God; the difference is that Jesus as called us unto different departments (ministries).
‘He that descended is the same also that ascended up far above all heavens, that he might fill all things.) And he gave some, apostles; and some, prophets; and some, evangelists; and some, pastors and teachers; For the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ…’ Ephesians 4:10-11
From the scripture above, we can tell that all sons of God can be found in either of this category and that is why we should all together be called Christians. We are the Apostles, we are the Prophets, we are the Evangelists, we are the Pastors, we are the Teachers, we are the source of all the provisions the creatures need through Jesus Christ.
Therefore, we are that Jesus that men are looking for, that Jesus that was born by a virgin, died without sin and resurrected on the third is He that we should attain to.
‘Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.’ Hebrews 12:2
WE are not the sick that needs healing, we are not Lazarus that needs Jesus to call back to life, we don’t fever like Peter’s mother-in-law that Jesus should heal us of, we are not the centurion that needed a word from Jesus, we are not the woman with the issue of blood that needed to touch Jesus, we are not blind Bathemeus that shouted to call the attention of Jesus to receive his sight, we are not the man at the pool of Bethesda who waited for the turning of the pool, WE ARE NOT WHO WE THINK WE ARE!
We have to be that Jesus who went about doing good, healing and preaching the gospel. I have never read where it was written that Jesus went about seeking for a miracle expect for the one of soul saving, which required Him to die once for all. See this scripture below;
‘How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.’ Acts 10:38.
By this, if we follow this, if we follow after Christ and get to underdstand why He did all He did while He was on Earth, until then, we can’t freely live our life for God through Christ Jesus.
‘Till we all come in the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, unto a perfect man, unto the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ: That we henceforth be no more children, tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they lie in wait to deceive; Ephesians 4:13-14
These signs; raising the dead, healing the sick, casting out demons, men of faith… shall follow only sons of God not Christians that depend on Pastors and Prophets for miracles. Mark 16:17.
